Reading a book called Awakenings also, by Oliver Sacks. Kind of half scientific record, half just plain story of a load of post-encephalitic patients he treated. The general gist being that there was a "sleeping sickness" epidemic and all these people went completely Parkinsonian and turned into jibbering, twitching vegetables and were just locked away in the back wards of various mental hospitals for around 50 years, no-one having any idea what to do with them. And then this "miracle drug" called L-Dopa came along that he treated them with, and suddenly all these people who hadn't spoken or fed themselves for half a century suddenly started waking up, walking around and talking. And then after a while, having crazy side effects with fits and psychoses and the like. And various odd compulsions and accentuated specific abilities.
Anyway yes, brilliant book. Although possibly "The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat" is better. Also by Oliver Sacks, also about various crazy neurological illnesses and irregularities, but a lot more varied and completely bizarre. Everyone should read it.
Was in tesco today and saw this aussie (-looking) bloke, and in his trolley were two crates of Fosters and three oranges. That's my kinda weekly shop.
Possibly the reason i suddenly feel normal again is because I had a proper night out on the lash last night and slept til midday. Which is the correct way of things. Old school friend's birthday, local cocktail bar thang, then central London. Metro club for a gig, Moving Units I think. Quite good, quite reminiscent of The Faint. Then hilarious metal club at the Borderline with lots of kids throwing themselves around to Drowning Pool, and Crobar for the rest of the night.
I think I might start a new devart account. All suggestions for a name welcome.

Tips for maintaining an Aura of Insanity #32825551
Hum loudly in public, make up songs and sing them, works best when you're alone. Maybe dancing a little jig too.
Hope all is well and congrats on being accept to Cambridge (I think it was!?)
Anyway, take care!
